IPRS Concept
Whenever a cable
repair is completed, the cable repair ship assigned to the job will usually send
a detailed repair completion report back to the Maintenance Authorities who represent the Cable Owners.
Until the introduction of IPRS, there was no mechanism for sharing the valuable
information in these reports between Cable Owners (who are often in competition
but obliged to contract the same ship operator for their respective maintenance
operations).
The schematic diagram below shows how the cable repair completion reports are now sent to a central point for independent and confidential analysis by Qualtrack. Reports are then produced every 3 months to reveal performance trends over a period of time.
